History
1892
The Rothenberg and Becht fields in Geisenheim are acquired, which are mined for clay and kaolin -> Almost pure, white kaolin was extracted here, which became known as ‘Geisenheim porcelain’. The ERBSLÖH company was founded.
1940
Bentonite was introduced for protein fining and beverage stabilisation and became known as “Geisenheimer Erde zur Weinschönung” (Geisenheim soil for wine fining)
1964
Under Gerd Erbslöh, the beverage technology department was founded in the company
1966
The invention of bentonite activation, a chemical refinement process, becomes one of the company’s most important milestones
2003
ERBSLÖH France becomes part of the ERBSLÖH Group
2005
ERBSLÖH España is founded
2008
Gerd Erbslöh establishes the Gerd Erbslöh Foundation, which supports bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral theses that represent special achievements in the fields of beverage technology and oenology
