Clarification

Beer clarification is an important production process. Clarification can already take place during wort clarification in the brewhouse. It is also possible to use silica sol in the whirlpool, during fermentation, or maturation. The most effective solution for clarification during the fermentation process is to use silica sol. This method of beer clarification has absolutely no negative influence on the fermentation process. After the primary fermentation the yeast already sediments onto the tank bottom very compactly. Thus beer loss is reduced, and a well pre-clarified beer can move on to the maturation process. For beer clarification during the maturation process, silica sol, PVPP, or silica gel is used. Beyond the German Purity Law, isinglass gel can be used for beer clarification, too.
